Adriana Garcia Maximiliano is Chief of Staff to Vice Mayor Carlos Garcia at the City of Phoenix, serving the residents of District 8. A community organizer by craft, Adriana has worked in Arizona for various political and issue-based campaigns in the last decade. Currently, Adriana proudly serves as the Co-Chair of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona and as a member of the Arizona State Commission on Trails.
The Arizona Undocumented Worker Relief Fund’s (AUWRF) commitment is rooted in the meaning of philanthropy, love for humanity, for undocumented working families who support our economy, work in our industries, and support our communities every day with their indispensable contributions.
David Hansen is vice president of fossil generation for Arizona Public Service Company (APS). Based in Phoenix, APS is Arizona’s largest electric company and serves 1.2 million customers across the state.
In his position, Hansen is responsible for all facets of the company’s fossil generation operations, maintenance, and engineering at nine facilities in Arizona and New Mexico.
Emily Costello is a self-taught painter, printer, and mixed media artist. Her art is inspired by her Mexican heritage, its cultural icons, imagery, and by the events that have shaped her life. Emily’s art is strongly influenced by her grandmother and of the stories she passed onto her; stories that not only give place and meaning to our existence but also on the experiences that we all share; issues of identity, humor, life, love, death, spirituality, dreams and memories.
A champion for women and children, January Contreras is the founder and former CEO of the Arizona Legal Women and Youth Services (ALWAYS). She has dedicated her career to serving others. January is a former Deputy County Attorney, Assistant Attorney General and Advisor to Governor Janet Napolitano. In 2009, she joined the Obama Administration where she was a designee to the White House Council on Women and Girls.
Magdalena Verdugo became Chief Executive Officer of the YWCA Southern Arizona in January of 2020. Previously, Verdugo spent 29 years with Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC), where she held a variety of positions. Her current community service includes recent service as a statewide board member of Planned Parenthood of Arizona. She is currently a member of The University of Arizona Hispanic Community Advisory Council, and a board member of Salud y Cariño.
Prestamos CDFI, LLC (“Prestamos”), is a Community Development Financial Institution(“CDFI”) and a Community Development Entity(“CDE”) that provides high-quality financial products and services for small businesses and impactful economic development projects. Through its parent corporation, Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc., Prestamos has administered a variety of lending programs since 1980.
Xavier Becerra is the 25th Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services and the first Latino to hold the office in the history of the United States. As Secretary, he will carry out President Biden's vision to build a healthy America, and his work will focus on ensuring that all Americans have health security and access to healthcare.
