About

Luz Sarmina
Luz Sarmina served as President and CEO of Valle del Sol, a nonprofit organization, providing healthcare, social services and Latino leadership development programs to the community. Under her leadership, the organization increased annual revenues from $2.5 million to $15+ million and grew from 50 employees to as many as 200. Additionally, leadership programs at Valle del Sol expanded into western Maricopa County, the East Valley, Pinal County, Tucson, and Yuma County. A major goal, under her administration, was to increase the capacity of the agency to provide services for individuals of all ages. She successfully led the organization through its first-ever $3 million capital campaign. Luz was selected as a Virginia G. Piper Trust Fellow, a graduate from the National Hispanic Leadership Institute, an inductee to the ASU College of Public Programs Hall of Fame in 2006, an OHTLI recipient awarded by the Government of Mexico in 2003, and YWCA’s Tribute to Women honoree in 2002. Luz Sarmina serves as Valle del Sol’s President Emeritus and volunteers in fundraising for the annual Mom of the Year event highlighting service to community and role modeling of motherhood.
