Laura Couret

Laura Couret is an accomplished education leader with more than 28 years of experience dedicated to improving outcomes for students, families, and school communities. As Principal of Joseph Zito Elementary School, she has led a linguistically and culturally diverse Title I school community through data-driven school improvement, visible learning strategies, and an inclusive approach centered on student achievement and well-being. Under her leadership, Zito Elementary achieved an A-rating for two consecutive years and was nominated for the ESEA Distinguished Schools Program for its work serving special populations.

Throughout her career, Laura has held leadership roles across public, private, and charter school systems, including serving as Superintendent of Instruction and Chief Operating Officer at Bradley Academy and Turn-Around Principal at Quentin Elementary School. Her work has consistently focused on equity, family engagement, culturally responsive practices, and creating systems that help students thrive. She has also built meaningful partnerships with organizations including Valle del Sol, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Arizona State University, and the International Rescue Committee to expand academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support for refugee and multilingual families representing more than 20 languages.

A graduate of Valle del Sol's Hispanic Leadership Institute Class of 1995, Laura's career reflects a lifelong commitment to educational leadership and service. From mentoring educators to supporting students and families beyond the classroom, she has dedicated nearly three decades to strengthening schools and creating equitable opportunities for every learner.
